Cringe - Re: "you can brag about Intel's cost savings then, not now because AMD-based systems still offer better cost savings."

They should offer better cost savings - since the AMD CPUs inside are sold at a LOSS .

Cringe - Re: "I made my initial AMD purchase before I signed up to SI and I never invested more $ into AMD after I signed up to SI (which was October last year)."

I guess you either haven't made a dime or you're underwater.

You should have sold at $30+ - and not listen to the SCUMbria baloney.

He talks about the great K7 that's "always coming" then he bails out of the stock.

Hold on to your AMD and prove to us that SCUMbria is smarter than you.

Cringe - Re: "BTW, all your hype about the i810 means nothing because it won't come out until June, ala the K7. In Elmer's POV, the i810 would be considered vaporware."

Hype?

The i810 is in the hands of PC manufacturers.

Kinda makes you CRINGE, eh Cringe?

Jump to first matched term

SAN JOSE, Calif., April 26 /PRNewswire/ -- True to its reputation as being the leader in delivering new technology, motherboard maker Supermicro will release four new boards based on Intel's latest chipset: the 810, code named "Whitney." The release date of these motherboards will coincide with Intel's official release of the chipset on April 26.

Supermicro's newest line of motherboards offers a built-in high-performance 3D graphics controller along with an AC'97 audio subsystem, bringing excellent graphics and sound capabilities to the desktop PC. SUPERMICRO's PIIISWA, PIIISWD and PIIISWM are Slot 1 boards that will support the newest Pentium III processors for optimizing these new chipset functions. In addition, the new 370SWD and 370SWM boards support 370-pin Celeron PPGA processors for state-of-the-art systems at an outstanding value. All four models will run at 100/66 MHz front side bus speed, support up to 512 MB of SDRAM and incorporate the new Audio Modem Riser technology. Suspend to Ram and Suspend to Disk are features that will restore full operability to a system in suspend mode in a quick 5 seconds, allowing you to instantly resume work where you left off. Wake-on-LAN, modem remote wake-up and keyboard wake-up offer increased system manageability. The PIIISWA and PIIISWD are full ATX boards, while the PIIISWM, 370SWD and 370SWM boards are microATX. All except the 370SWM include an onboard 4 MB display cache.

Being first to deliver new technology is a tradition at Supermicro, who was first to introduce I2O, dual Pentium Pro and Xeon solutions to the market. CEO Charles Liang states that "to differentiate ourselves, Supermicro aims to continue its lead in the motherboard market by always being the first to deliver new developments and technologies."
