I've attached my break down of these patents (Organizations versus # of patents). Also, what is most interesting is that most of these patents are only a few years old and the oldest is from 1991. Ballard's patents go back to NASA patents in the 1960s. GLE looks to have the more advanced technology over Ballard. Since GLE's run-up, I've sold my Ballard. My take is that the GM and Toyota connections is like the main source of competition for GLE working with Delphi. But I expect there is room for multiple players and someone like Delphi may well play the roll of a system integrator taking best of class components from multiple sources (e.g. NGK ceramics, GLE stack, etc.).
