Thanks mucho. So I would then assume that this signaling scheme is not something protected by a patent (by Rambus, that is).

With respect to the 1/2 level when coming back to the chipset, both Tenchusatsu (in message 18981, see point #2) and my friend mentioned that that was how it worked. Apparently, the signal isn't terminated when it comes in to the chipset, so you get some kind of reflection which doubles the voltage change. Both agree with you, however, on the way out to the RDRAM chips where there is termination.
