Mani, TSM's web site is full of ancient material. They still have two 6" fabs for fat-line semis but the rest of their fabs are relatively high-tech. While visiting your link, I found this little tidbit:

tsmc.com.tw

<snip>Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) (NYSE: TSM) today announced an agreement to port the Direct Rambus Access Cell (Direct RAC) to its 0.25-um logic process. The Direct RAC offers superior performance and a high-bandwidth standard interface for high-volume, low-cost memory controllers to the Rambus 800MHz memory. End product applications include main memory chip sets, graphics controllers, multimedia controllers, peripheral controllers and network switch controllers, to name a few." <snip>

<snip>"TSMC and Rambus plan to port the Direct RAC to the TSMC 0.25 micron logic process by April this year for silicon verification and characterization."<snip>

Note: The date of the article should read 1/24/99.
