Nah. He's just another government MTV pooh-bah. It would take the world about as much time to readjust to his moving on as it takes a bucket of water to readjust to the removal of your arm from it.

Don't confuse cause with result. Bad economies get that way when politicos mess with them. To the extent that you've got a Greenspan who can somehow prevent or mitigate that, that is good and the guy gets credit. But the guy didn't cause the economy to be good.

Look around the world. The economies which are in trouble are the ones with the most government intervention.

Milton Friedman can't think of any good reasons for a Fed to even exist, other than to act as a check possibly against bad policy decisions emanating from the 3 branches. I tend to agree.
