From the Yahoo board, a poster states that Goldman Sachs this am has CPU running positive on same store sales so far this month. I don't know if this is true since I haven't been able to confirm it. If true is this selective disclosure? Did Goldman put their clients in late yesterday on this "news"? That said, (if true)this would have the type of positive price impact reflected by yesterdays late action - rather than executive promotions. Positive store comps is the best piece of news that CPU could release short of a buyout. I'm
prepared to give Halpin one more quarter before asking for his job. Box makers themselves are having a difficult time right now with margins, and at the retail store level it gets worst. Once CPU adjusts their cost curve inline with this new market reality they will be fine. The stock rates a Speculative Buy and a lousy Short. All imo.
