To all,
Alert : RG (NYSE), Rogers Comm, biggest Canadian cable company, also wireless and other commms interest is getting under fire. Now at $22. I think it's the CHEAPEST CABLE COMPANY in Northern America..

I see it as a potential hot stock that might get exposure soon. This is the biggest Canadian cable company network. Well, not only does it already offer Internet services via the ATHM (AtHome) standard, they were reportedly mentioned in CNBC today.

Many seem to regard this company as AT&T next takeover target. Already at new all time high at $21+ this company trades at a remarkable discount versus its industry group with regard to Price to sales ratio.

Rogers Communications Inc. (RG) also April 26th that it intends to redeem all of the Cdn.$199,250,000 outstanding 7.5% convertible debentures on May 26, 1999. This should DELEVERAGE their balance sheet to a huge extent and pave the way to much increased profit margins.

Pls. don't forget that not all companies in the below tabulation are
"SAME". some cable companies won't let you connect to the internet, most of them (including RG or UMG) will connect on their network by a third party (mostly ATHM). Some (UIHIA) will even provide their own connectivity solution (called "chello" for UIHIA). The effect on the strategic side and on future cash-flow potential should be quite different for all 3 business models.

Price to Sales Ratio, based on HISTRORIC TTM (trailing 12 months)

RG Rogers Comm: 1,84
CVC Cablebision: 3,69
ADLAC Adelphia : 4,17
JOINA Jones Intercable : 4,76
SJR Shaw Comm: 6,23
CMCSK Comcast: 6,83
TWX Time Warnet: 6,26
TCAT TCA Cable : 6,38
CTYA Century Comm: 7,93
UIHIA United Intl: 10,00
COX Cox Comm: 13,51
UMG Media One: 17,89

so for me it appears that RG is REALLY CHEAP and profitable, unlike many others in this comparison..

best regards
CROSSY
