I wonder if anyone will kill me if I plan the trip
around William Morris?

Kill, no. They need you to do the laundry! <g>

But mutiny -- definitely.

Rambi's suggestion about centering parts of the trip around books is excellent! Speaking of which, do they know the Arthur Ransome books? If not, you MUST introduce them! Start with Swallows and Amazons, which introduces the people. Then on to any of the others. Swallowdale, Winter Holiday, They Didn't Mean to Go to Sea (my absolute favorite, I have read it somewhere between 20 and 50 times, and I STILL tear up when John sails into the harbor and sees his father on the steamer, and the steamer starts to slip away . . . The books are centered around actual places from Ransome's childhood, some of the names are disguised, but not much.
