Thanks for explaining your rating system. When did you issue the target price of $30 which you are basing the downgrade on? Was it your 12-month target price from several months ago, or is it an updated target price factoring in the most recent earnings announcements? Seems a bit low, considering the growing contribution to earnings of Xilinx's new product lines. TIA

After doing this for over 20 years, I have come to believe that discipline
is more significant than either blinding insight or undue reliance on what I
refer to as "snippet du jour."

Tad you are absolutely correct on this. I am working on my discipline in investing but like an alcoholic I slip once in a while and that is when I lose most.
I see that you are well disciplined analyst, what is your secret that keeps you sane in this market and sticking to the rules you have set? Any tips are welcome.

Thanks for your very informative post. I too have been wondering why XLNX supports a PE about twice its 5 yr growth rate. The new product line is significant, but not sure yet if earnings acceleration is supportive of current values.

I like your "snippet du jour" comment, since it's the reason for existence of silicon investor, cnbc, etc. I'll keep trying to glean the knowledge from all that information out there.

Regards,

Neal
