Belinda,

It's a bit complicated and you can lose a lot of money in a hurry if you don't watch your step... and you can also gain a lot of money quickly if you get lucky. The foll links have education sites for Options, the latter will send you a free educational VHS tape on the basics of options.

optionsource.com

or

cboe.com

Good reading,
SF

Belinda.. options (calls and puts) after having lost in the 5 figures (more than once) and gained in the 6 (ultimately) I still don't profess to understand them, but it takes a while.. Not just understanding the put/call in general but learning the 'price patterns' of your stocks. I am not the kind of option trader that scans the market for good option trades irrespective of the underlying (underlying is the stock) according to undervalued/overvalued etc. .. I trade only according to the vacillations of the stock and only options that trade in fast markets and very volatile and have been traded over and over again. A new option and I'm completely lost. It took me weeks to be comfortable with CTIX and EBAY until I finally stepped into the stock. EBAY option puts I have never traded so I'm more cautious.
