(NASDAQ NM:FIBR - news), today announced the ROUTERmate(tm)-T3 ''Sentry,'' the newest member of the ROUTERmate line of enhanced CSU/DSUs. The new Sentry is an enhanced management CSU/DSU designed specifically for today's high-speed T3 data networks. The Sentry also comes equipped with an important proactive automatic alarm management feature that notifies service providers of alarm conditions on a customer circuit. This allows them to remotely troubleshoot and manage the network even during line failures and allows maximum up-time and customer satisfaction. ''The ROUTERmate-T3 Sentry is designed specifically for Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and carriers who want to provide managed services over their T3 infrastructure,'' stated Eric Kraieski, vice president of marketing for Osicom's Network Access/IP Services Division. ''The Sentry is compatible with other ROUTERmate devices offering similar functionality on 56K, 64K and T1/FT-1 circuits, allowing consistent management and high availability across the entire wide area network.'' Sentry for T-3 Networks The ROUTERmate Sentry meets the requirements of today's T3 data networks through its High-Speed Serial Interface (HSSI). Each unit provides user-friendly, menu-driven configuration and supports SNMP, Telnet, and async terminal control. It allows SNMP management from any popular SNMP platform, as well as remote monitoring access from anywhere on the network, using Telnet protocol. The Sentry includes an ethernet interface for direct connection to a local area network for local management and control. Sentry Remote Management The Sentry supports a unique remote management feature. When an alarm condition occurs (loss of signal, out of frame, etc.), the Sentry automatically calls a pre-determined location over a standard POTS line using an internal modem where the event is received and logged. The call is then terminated and the line is released. The network administrator can then perform out-of-band remediation by dialing directly into the dial-in port. A built-in switching function allows a network administrator to console manage another device such as a router or switch in addition to the Sentry. Pricing and Availability Pricing for the ROUTERmate-T3 Sentry starts at $2,995.00 list and is available for first customer shipments beginning in May.
