JJames - Jim is a rocket scientist, smart & witty. I am a CPA, but understand very little technology, more than the average CPA.

Pat Mudge was our Den Mother, Dear Friend and the leader of the Amati Communications Thread - ADSL. Westell made an offer for Amati then Texas Instruments upped the offer. If DMT was used in ADSL today you could get 8 Mbps per second to the home. The world would have change. The internet would be full motion voice, data and video to our homes by now. There are problems business strategy and deployment problems with 8 Mbps to the home, but it was not insurmountable or unrealistic.

Siemens has a long standing relationship with NewBridge Networks. Newbridge is the only full ATM data networking company that hasn't been swallowed up by Lucent or any of the big companies. If Siemens would buy Newbridge, FNTN would have available new ATM with IP technology that could greatly benefit FNTN.

Class dismissed.
