I believe market orders on ETrade are $27 (under 5000 shares). Nothing like the $8-$15 dollars we see in the US. I us RBDS too, I would love to find a cheaper alternative, it wouldn't be hard to provide better service than the banks....

Regards
Jay

PS What does HKB charge for trades?
Have you heard good things about them?

ciVic: Those forms you refer to are IRS forms. I recently filled out the W-8 Form relating to another matter. Here's what they are:

W-8: Certificate of Foreign Status -- form that is simple to fill out and only requires you to attest that you are not an American citizen or have resident status. You simply fill in your name and sign it.

Form 1001: Ownership, Exemption, or Reduced Rate Certificate -- this form is filled out by you and is filed by a Withholding Agent. It allows you, as a foreigner, to be exempt from withholding taxes according to tax treaties. The form is straight-forward.
