Dragonfly, took me some work, but I think everyone should know what a
consistent powerhouse Cisco is. Here are their gross margins for the
last several years that I calculated from the annual reports and 10Qs:

10/95 1/96 4/96 7/96 10/96 1/97 4/97 7/97
----- ---- ---- ---- ----- ---- ---- ----
66.5% 66.0% 65.3% 65.0% 65.0% 65.3% 65.3% 65.1%

10/97 1/98 4/98 7/98 10/98 1/99
----- ---- ---- ---- ----- ----
65.1% 65.4% 65.7% 65.7% 65.5% 65.2%

So as you can see gross margins have been coming down slightly, but
they are rock solid and have been for 3 and a half years. Also, I
didn't do the calculation, but net margins have been consistently
above 20% for as long as I can remember. Those types of margins
definitely compete with Microsoft's.
