Douglas, Nobody understands the Middle East and Africa like the Brits! The White Hall makes US State Dept. look like a bunch of school kids! Nobody knows the Balkan like the Germans! Very methodically they are moving East! In Croatian, the leaders of Ustacha are declared national hero! Tudjman received 100% of his arm shipments from Germans in early 1990's, shipped to him through Austria, and Republic of Slovenia, by-passing the UN embargo! When he unleashed the offensive against the Serbs in Slavonia, and Republic of Serbska in Bosnia, he was able to through in 300 brand new T-72 Russian tanks, backed by 1200 heavy artilery pieces, all Russian made! He kicked the shit out of Regular Serb Army. Milosovic was only glad to fly to the States to signe the peace treaty! All these arms came from the East German stock piles! We may consider that Jugoslavia was an artificial state, built upon the ashes of Austro-Hungerian Empire, and kept together by "spit and prayer! " It was kept as long as there was a wise central authority, and then the whole thing went just into pieces! The creation of new nations in Europe, is indeed a dangereous process! Bosnia, Slovnia, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Kosovo, have never existed as states in the history! They have been alwasy part of something else! We used to complain back in the old days! We didn't know who good we had it then! Maybe we should mourn the past Empires, th Ottoman, the Austro-Hungrian and the most recent one, the Soviet Empire! There was a coherent line of demarcation between East and West! How do we define our post-Soviet world! Free of war? Free from fear and deportation? Who is who? I wonder!
