Nasdaq rules require that a crossed trade be printed within 90 seconds. If MM's are bundling trades, they are breaking exchange rules. My guess without knowing anything further is that someone wants to trade a good size peice, and has to break it up due to the illiquidity. Michael might be the better person to ask though.
