To All, The world's largest PC distributor just reported the first negative quarterly comparison that I can remember. Ingram Micro posted 29 cents, down 25% vs. 1998 and down 41% from the 4th quarter.

However, the permabulls say we should be encouraged because revenues were up 31% over last year. As I've long maintained, if you are willing to kill your profit margins, you can sell boxes.

From this perspective, it looks like a lot of units were sold at very low prices and very low margins in the industry, backing the disastrous evidence from the Compaq and IBM reports.

I love it when a plan comes together. <g>
