A bit of arcane lore (lower case) which you probably know. "Humble pie" was originally "umble pie"; the "umbles" were the leftover entrails of game that were not considered suitable for consumption by the feudal landowners. The serfs, instead, were able to do what they could with this less desirable fare.

Perhaps it could be argued, then, that the folks at Business Wire don't have the guts, as it were, to eat humble pie...
