Salon , you are indeed correct ,it is called fiduciary duty. I think BW is openning a can of worms here. BW has a duty to you and I to at least call the phone # of the company they are posting for, and to verify all facts in a PR- a lot of work you say but hard luck - that is what the fee is for.
Let me give you an example.
You tell your realtor there is no easment on your property, he sells it,then the buyer finds out the main sewer trunk runs through your yard. The buyer sues the realtor because he had a fiduciary duty to find and divulge any wrong info.
Case#2
Realtor says your house is worth 100k so you sell.
The house sells in 1 day
You think Hmmmmm it must have been too cheap
You complain to your realtor.
He says tough luck I'm no appraiser I only sell houses- wrong.
Anyone taking money from you (eg BW ) has a legal duty of care to make sure that the facts ( in this case $value) is correct.
