Amcan Minerals on the Vancouver Stock Exchange symbol AMF. They have the license for one of the three kimberlite pipes in SL and areas block 51 and 51A which supposedly are substantial as well. The stock price has been crushed just like Diamond Works. As of now, Amcan has 35 million shares outstanding. The company slowly has been "brought to its knees" by the coup that took place in May of 1997 and has been virtually inactive since November of last year. They were going to purchase a company called Orolie with concessions in Angola but that country went to war in the fall of 1998 and that deal is on the back burner. They only have licenses for mining in SL, no other country in the world. Waiting for peace (cease fire accord to go into effect May 24) and hopefully cash flow issue will be resolved with two joint ventures agreed upon in the summer (one finance venture and one mining venture) so the can go full steam ahead in November when the rainy season is over. If there is one bright spot about SL's grave problems, it is the companies with licenses in the country are not exploring for diamonds, they are just waiting for the right conditions to unearth proven diamond resources exceeding billions of dollars.
