WOW! Just as I was getting ready to turn off the computer, I read your latest message....the one about the Americanization of the world. Oh definitely I think that is one reason why we are sometimes despised and made fun of. We've been conquering the world economically during the past 50 years. I can definitely understand why other countries would sometimes resent that. And yet it is more than just our culture...as you said, it's the language too. I am SOOO grateful to the British for settling so much of the world with the English language. Did you know that we came within 1 vote...that's right just ONE vote of having German become the national language of America? This was back in the early 1800's when the British weren't liked by us very much and there were lots of Germans settling here. Thank goodness that was defeated! Well, as our influence spreads more and more throughout the world, I can only pray that we receive the wisdom and the forbearance to deal with it...and may we always remain basically a benign nation..because we are. And I also want to add that we are SOOOOO lucky to have Canada as our neighbor. I think the affection our two peoples have for each other should truly be a benchmark to the rest of the world as to how two neighboring countries should co-exist. Sorry, I think I'm rambling again....always do that when I get too sleepy. Nite again! Juanita
