It's becoming a good tradition. Every time when it's earnings time, a Yahoo gossip comes to boost our moral and the stock price.

SAN FRANCISCO, April 27 — Is Yahoo
planning another multi-billion
acquisition to boost its portal strategy?
That was the buzz at the Hambrecht
and Quist Technology Conference on
Tuesday. Analysts here say Yahoo may
be setting its sites on the online bill
payment company CheckFree Holdings
Corp., and could spring for a purchase
of all or part of the company in the
very near future.

I hope that it is just what it is - a gossip. Any price is too cheap at this point. A suggestion that deal for CheckFree could cost an estimated $3 billion at CF's current market cap 2.5 billion barely qualifies for idiotic one.

With all that said, extra publicity doesn't hurt and "CheckFree is the sole provider of online bill payment services" sounds good on MSN site.
