Bill - Re: "I had often thought that this flambouyant use of planes and limos was demoralizing to the troops and engendered wasteful habits all through the company. Better times, time to buy and the market agrees with you."

Jerry Sanders was merely setting an example for all AMD employees to see - and to strive for.

If each one gave their full and complete effort, they too could one day hope to live and travel in the style of Kings such as their leader enjoyed.

This was difficult for Jerry to do - and not always fun. But he stuck with it - insuring that only the finest hotels would he stay at, only first class air travel would he fly, and only luxury limos would he be chaufeured in.

It wasn't what he wanted to do, rather, he suffered through these indignities to bootstrap the common AMD employee into thinking that - one day - they too could achieve greatness.

This is leadership in its finest form.
