Ish---The worst thing about all the gun laws is the only affect law abiding citizens. The rash of new laws the Littleton murders will spur will only affect the people who didn't do the killings.

That is the NRA's strongest case. Few instances of gun violence are accidental, and those that may be a result of "hot heads" would often be possible even under restrictive regimes, since some firearms will remain obtainable. For the most part, the determined gun- wielder can obtain a contraband weapon. It is no good to talk about the flow from less- restrictive states to more- restrictive states, either, since there are no states that permit heroin and cocaine to be sold, and they manage to find their way into the hands of users anyway.
