I understand why the story is a puzzler. I asked my dance instructor if she thought he went out for a few hours because he needed to talk to someone. She agreed. She is a compassionate person, a spiritual person, a minister! He danced with her but he also talked with her and I imagine it helped him cope. She is not a cat person but we had been talking about how people become attached to animals. She mentioned a couple who became attached to a squirrel. A cat mauled the squirrel. The couple took the squirrel to the vet. They worried about that squirrel for days!!! I'm not sure how that story ended.
