Teflon,

AOL can not split because there are no shares left to cover the split. They will need shareholders approval to issue more shares to cover the split, same boat ATHM is in.

MSFT has been treading water lately, is a settlement the only way we can get out of this trading range?

That's interesting that you think they could announce a split in a week or two...not sure if they have the shares...but AOL thread seems to recall them announcing splits day of, or after, earnings.
