BelAir completes flow testing of Kakwa well

BelAir Energy Corp BGY
Shares issued 46,977,153 Apr 27 close $0.28
Tue 27 Apr 99 News Release
Mr. Vic Luhowy reports
The preliminary flow testing of the Kakwa exploratory well, AEC et al Kakwa
15-33-61-5 W6M, has been completed. On a 93 hour single rate flow test, the
well flowed at a stabilized, restricted rate of approximately 15 million
cubic feet a day on a 5/16 inch choke. Flowing tubing pressure was 7,500
psig. Based on normal flow line pressures, BelAir estimates that the well
is capable of rates in excess of 30 mmcf/d.
The well has not been stimulated. The need for and the type of stimulation
treatment required to increase rates even further will be determined from
the analysis of the flow test and pressure buildup.
The operator is planning to place the well on production by constructing a
short 600 metre tie in. Due to the limited capacity of the gathering
system, the well will be flowed at restricted rates. The production data
and subsequent reservoir pressure analysis will determine productive
capability of the well and the extent of the reserves in the pool. Based on
this data, the operator will finalize various options to construct a high
capacity system in order to produce this and any subsequently drilled wells
at their productive capabilities.
BelAir has a 5 per cent working interest in the discovery well and the
surrounding seven sections of land. BelAir exited 1998 with production of
1,000 barrels of oil equivalent a day.
