Attention Business/Technology Editors:

Book lovers now able to purchase rare books and collector items online

TORONTO, April 28 /CNW/ - Bid.Com (www.bid.com), Canada's premier online
auction, and Chapters Internet (www.chapters.ca), Canada's leading online
bookstore, today announced they have entered into an exclusive book selling
partnership. The agreement includes the development of a Chapters-branded book
category on the Canadian portion of the Bid.Com web site, as well as
Chapters.ca merchant link buttons and Internet advertising throughout the
site.
As part of the relationship, Bid.Com will create a unique category on
their Canadian site for the purpose of auctioning and selling books, enabling
shoppers to locate and purchase special gifts and collector items at low
prices. Bid.Com visitors will have the opportunity to browse and buy rare
books, signed books and other Chapters merchandise online, reducing the amount
of time traditionally needed to search for these hard-to-find items. To
enhance their off-line presence, Bid.Com will launch unique promotional events
in Chapters retail stores across Canada in the coming months.
''We are very pleased to join forces with Chapters Internet, another
successful Canadian e-commerce venture,'' said Jeff Lymburner, President,
Bid.Com. ''This relationship will enable us to create a significant off-line
presence for Bid.Com through cross-promotional activity in various Chapters
locations, while also enhancing our site with a unique category for book
lovers.''
''This online partnership represents an excellent opportunity for
Canadian book lovers to purchase items that will enhance their book
collections,'' said Rick Segal, President, Chapters Internet. ''Through our
agreement with Bid.Com, Chapters Internet will further extend its online reach
and introduce Chapters.ca to a unique group of Canadians online.''
On April 23, Chapters began advertising on www.bid.com to promote the
launch of their new e-commerce site, www.chapters.ca. The Chapters' book
category on Bid.Com will be available online early this summer. Other
opportunities are currently being explored that combine Bid.Com's auction
technology and Chapters Internet's position as Canada's most popular online
bookstore.
