In the article "In Defense of the Voodoo 3 and Future 3dfx products"
penstarsys.com
the author speculates on the features of the Voodoo3 4000. He believes that along with the added AGP 4x support 3dfx may add support for 512x512 textures and 32 bit color depth.

The V3 2000, 3000, and 3500 all use the same generation graphics chip. The differences in the boards are clock speed and support chips (RAMDAC, LCD support).

Does support for AGP 4x require a new generation of the graphics chip, or is it handled by support circuitry? Has 3dfx ever indicated that the V3 4000 will use a new generation of graphics chip?
