I just wish I could sell my PC iron; it's virtually worthless.

SGI is so good at seeing the trend that they sold the Starfire to Sun. ;)

JMHO.

The above comment is the most wickedly humorous one I've run into in several years at least. I'm not sure if the humor was intended. SGI does not see a trend until just about the time the trend becomes so thick as a brick and hit them on the head. Had they seen the trend, they would have owned the graphic market up and down the food chain.

I hope that their spinoff of MIPS will be successful and that someone like Compaq will absorb them soon. (My humble attempt at humor :)

James my boy, you're fighting so hard you're swing real wild now.

1. You cannot use clock speed to compare one arch. to another.
The sparc arch. performs up too 3 instructions per clock cycle
compared to intel's 1. That is why they are "struggling" with
350 Mhz. But lets do a little math: IF that "up too 3" averages
out to be only 2 that's equiv. to 700Mhz of intels.

2. You mention Solaris 2.5? That OS is 5+ years old! Lets
compare that to M$ at that time... Win3.1?? On my system
here I have both Win98 & Solaris 7. I don't see any difference
in time between Scandisk and fsck, all I know is that Scandisk
has HAD to run on the Win98 about 30-40 times in the last few
months because of window crashes vs. 0 times for Solaris. So
which is faster?????
