28-Apr-99 13:27:48 Shares of Seagate Technology are giving back yesterday's big gains and then some, as the stock sinks to $28 1/2 with a loss of $3 11/16. Institutional activity is brisk with block trades accounting for an unusually high amount of volume. Approximately 80% of today's volume can be traced back to a block trade. This combined with the stock's price performance suggests institutional investors are significantly reducing their positions in Seagate today. The pre-trade bids on I-Watch show that there is buy interest in the stock, however, the volume of bids appear inadequate to hinder the sellers' negative influence. Watch for pre-trade signs that buy interest is becoming sufficient enough to soak up the excess supply in the market, suggesting SEG has hit a bottom.
