>> allows shorting of mutual funds

Sounds like free money <g> Just short most funds and go long OEX or NDX and get the risk free underperformance premium.

Do they let you short EBAY, YHOO, or AOL? I need the thread's help with this issue. Yesterday (and the day before that) at the open I wanted to short EBAY to no avail as my brokerage has self appointed himself as my guardian angel and has decided that Internet stocks are to volatile and risky for a short sell!

What I need to know, is how many brokerages are discouraging or preventing short sell of 'net stocks. If this number is substantial, the dynamics of these stocks has changed dramatically.

thanks for your help,
Sun Tzu

sentiment numbers
bulls 56.1
bears 30.7

bulls/(bulls+bears)=64.63 microscopically lower than last week's 64.68

Strange, as we approach 11K and another ludicrous CNBC special now for a crummy 10% gain to 11k from their last special if it occurs, sentiment has not exploded into the 70's tho with a little nudge we could see sentiment in the 70's and p/c 10 DMA below .5, a combination if it occurs I would have to consider ominous. If MrGreenJeans gets his planting done maybe he can tell us where we stand on valuation, a somewhat difficult question with earnings doing so well
