IBM Tuesday unveiled a security scheme for eXtensible Markup Language that can operate in conjunction with existing security technologies or, in some cases, offer a simpler substitute for them.

The eXtensible Markup Language Security Suite puts tools in the hands of developers for encrypting specific fields of a business form, such as the amount of a salary or contract, while the remainder of the form is transmitted in unencrypted text. In a simple Web-based transaction, the buyer's credit-card number could be encrypted on an XML form while the form's other parts remain unchanged.

"We need element encryption in the body of a document," Simon Phipps, IBM Java and XML evangelist said from Granada, Spain, where he was attending the XML Europe Conference Tuesday.

In addition, the IBM suite of XML security tools includes XML Digital Signature, which can verify that a document was sent by a given party; and a hashing algorithm, DOMHash, that allows an XML document to carry a digital signature confirming the contents were not modified during transmission, Phipps said. How It Works(from GMGC website)
Kenya voice agent technology exploits the eXtensible Markup Language (XML). XML is a widely accepted universal format for defining and sharing information on the World Wide Web. Kenya technology uses XML to define the rules that voice agents follow and to store the parameters that personalize the agents for the user. The use of XML makes it easy for developers to create voice agent applications.
