<<<i have 4 teenagers >>>>

Let me guess - you must be bald by now !!!! Our one and only to-be-a-teenager (10 yr old) is making my hair turn grey !

I'm not for spoiling them either. But just here to see that the gaps which they cannot fill for themselves, can be filled with love and care, and a little help from Santa !

She still has to work for it - a B+ grade and she knows she is in trouble. But for all things I always wanted and could never have, I make sure that she never "wants" anything too desperately. Of course there are ways of "giving"....like recently she wanted something outrageously expensive and I encouraged her to learn a language to "earn" the stuff !

Win win works with me rather than the comment - its too expensive for you to have !

But in parenting, I think its a gut feel. I don't think there is a hard and fast rule ! The end result should be happy, well adjusted adults ! Means to achieve this can be many ! and mine isn't even a teenager yet - so maybe I'm just hoping !

Eugene,

I disagree with nearly all of your assessment of amzn yhoo, ebay, etc.... But I am saving and printing and re-reading your post re raising children. I hope they will be a continuous source of joy in your life.
