R.H. Donnelley and DoubleClick to Provide Targeted Local Web Advertising

PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1999--R.H. Donnelley (NYSE: RHD - news), the nation's largest independent marketer of yellow pages advertising, and DoubleClick Inc.,(NASDAQ: DCLK - news) the leading Internet advertising solutions company, announced today that they have entered into an alliance to target Web advertising to local Web users in the greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky market.

''This is a powerful and cost-effective tool for bringing together local customers and advertisers on nationally branded Web sites,'' said Frank R. Noonan, chairman and chief executive officer of R.H. Donnelley. ''The union of DoubleClick's Internet advertising solutions and R.H. Donnelley's sales expertise is a potent combination.''

DoubleClick Local helps Internet advertisers target prospects by both geography and category. Ads are targeted at local users on sites within the DoubleClick Local Network, including top branded sites such as AltaVista, Travelocity, and U.S. News and World Report.

''We have had great success with our local product and our reseller partners,'' said Jonathan Heller, general manager of DoubleClick Local. ''R.H. Donnelley is the premier local sales channel in the regions where they operate and an ideal reseller for us.''

The alliance will be launched in Cincinnati, where R.H. Donnelley publishes The One Book Yellow Pages®, which is among the top five proprietary directories in the U.S. ranked by revenue. R.H. Donnelley has the exclusive right to sell the banner ad placements to local businesses in the greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky market.

DoubleClick's targeting technology--based on geography and site category --enables Internet advertisers to reach a local audience with interests specifically attuned to an advertiser's particular product or service. DoubleClick matches the geographic location of the user with the appropriate locally targeted ad, using a system similar to caller ID.

''The concentration of local advertisers coming onto the Internet is a tremendous opportunity,'' said Lyle Wolf, senior vice president, strategic marketing and business development for Donnelley. ''Including DoubleClick Local in our Internet advertising product mix allows us to provide a full range of solutions for local advertisers by giving them access to local users through nationally branded sites.''

R.H. Donnelley joins US West Dex and Ameritech as a DoubleClick Local reseller.
