I agree with you. It looks like you got screwed. But, I think people should always be skeptical when it comes to refurbished goods.

I bought a "refurbished" 16" IBM monitor through a Computer Shopper magazine and paid about $150. When I received it it looked about 10 years old which I wasn't surprised of since no one makes 16" monitors. What I did mind is it had scrambling spasms more and more frequently until it died after six months. I will never buy a refurbished anything again in my life. Now that I know about shopper.com and pricewatch.com I can get new stuff at used prices anyway.
