Market makers profit from the stocks they sell. Goldman Sachs is one of Bid.com's market makers.

Do I have to repeat it all over again? Trading profits via MMing a stock has nothing to do with analyst coverage. Goldman Sachs makes markets in hundreds of stocks without analyst coverage.

It remains to be seen as to whether they will initiate coverage on the stock, but rumor had it on another message board that they may do that. Are you going to state that you know definitely that they will not initiate coverage?

Let me tell you something. There will always be ridiculous rumors going around. There will be rumors of AOL/EBAY/AMZN buying BIDS at $100/share. Any irrational spikes based on baseless rumors are excellent short-selling opportunities.

I don't work for Goldman Sachs and so the term "definitely know" cannot be uesd. I am not a newbie and my experience gives me confidence that it will not initiate coverage of a stock like BIDS if it does not smell underwriting commissions (being a MM is irrelevant).

I am willing to bet $1000 (U.S currency)

By Jan 1, 2000 if Goldman Sachs initiates coverage with a buy or a strong buy, I lose.
If it does not initiate coverage, I win.
Loser sends the winner a check on Jan 1, 2000.

Are you willing to accept these terms ?

Regards.
