My judgement of the mood of the cc was the feeling that "good enough isn't good enough". Although a few analysts said "congradulations" for the sales growth and lower than expected loss, they also were not happy to hear that they must now go back to their spreadsheets and figure in higher costs and wider losses for the next few quarters. Covey and Bezo said that they want to "err on the side of over-expansion" but the feeling I get is that as the company grows they are becoming much more complex and management overhead is growing more than expected. That works against the theory that there is great economy in numbers. However, to be fair, it is early in the game and plant expansion is not a bad thing if you can fill it. But when Covey was asked if according to Amazon's plan the distribution centers would be filled in three years or four, she declined to answer.

No announcement has come out that I know of about a stock split. I haven't talked with my source about this - he said it was a sure thing.
