So you want msft to get x86-NT to within 25% of NT? Makes sense to me....

You might be interested to know that more x86 SPECint95 numbers are now reported for NT boxes, rather than UNIX because of the performance. Just imagine how good those numbers will look when NT gets closer to NT.

I see very little hope for NON-x86 CPUs at the high end. Alpha is the only serious competitor left, and it's not doing too well.

MIPS, SH, and ARM are doing very well in the consumer and portable markets.
