H&Q Tech Conference feedback...

Unless tech gets hammered again tomorrow, I would expect some upward pressure on Dell tomorrow. Perhaps, even if tech gets hammered. ;-)

From Infobeat

DELL COMPUTER Chief Financial Officer Tom Meredith said the company's consumer personal-computer sales, which were at a $3 bln run rate last year, will be substantially higher this year.
During a presentation at Hambrecht & Quist's technology Conference here, Meredith said Dell's consumer PC sales, which make up 5% of the company's total revenue, have been growing at six to nine times the average rate of growth for the industry over the past three years.

Dell Fincl Chief: Co.'s Consumer PC Sales To Rise This Year

SAN FRANCISCO (Dow Jones)--Dell Computer Corp. (DELL) Chief Financial Officer Tom Meredith said Wednesday the company's consumer personal-computer sales, which were at a $3 billion run rate last year, will be substantially higher this year.

During a presentation at Hambrecht & Quist's technology conference here, Meredith said Dell's consumer PC sales, which make up 5% of the company's total revenue, have been growing at six to nine times the average rate of growth for the industry over the past three years.

Overall sales in China, launched last August, have grown more than 100% and are rapidly increasing, Meredith said.

He said that if sales in China and in India match the market penetration of South Korea - one PC sold for every 12.5 people - world-wide PC demand would more than double.

Demand for computers will grow at 14% to 15% each year over the next three to four years, Meredith said.

Dell should continue quarterly growth this year while the industry is expected to decline in the first half, he said.
