Actually, I believe, and may well be wrong, that the main issue is disk thruput. When I look at the boxes, the CPU is mostly idle(under 25%), and the network is at 100%.

In my real world situation, my impression is that most of the disk traffic is caused by incorrect queries, but that the unix OS seems to handle the disk I/O better. The difference may well be that the UX boxes are more properly configured, but I can't do anything about that.

I was mostly just *angry* when I posted the <3-CPU boxes> message that management is spending so much money on the computing environment and so little on the entire(read network) environment, and that they are spending it in the worng place(IMO).

The universal answer with management today seems to be -- stick another cpu intoit.
