TL, what does the 2x4 think about this:

Today, CF officially entered the world of internet stocks. It will forgo short term earnings to gain an even bigger lead in their space.
This could be the lock that goes on the TP coffin.

Does this strategy make sense? It has for Netbank. The first to market internet bank who is growing and making $$$ only to make less than they could in order to gain as much lead as they can in a space that will be fiercly competitive in the future. It is not like CF is so fat and happy that they cannot afford not to take advantage of their most fierce competitors weaknesses and mistakes. TP is down but not out and CF is going in for the knock out.Yes, it is risky but calculated. What would have happened if Patton had gotten his way and gone into Russia like he wanted. We will never know but I can guess.

The analyst bought into it today. Look at all their notes and upward target revisions. The strategy is sound. Make less money now but still make money while you pounce the competition. Just know when enough is enough. Pete, know when to quit and let your profits run. When is $500mm in your bank account not enough? Or 750 or 1bb. No egos, just sound, practical strategy.

Worked for me on my fifth try.

Here's the message that I received on the first 4 attempts:
An error has occurred during your online session.

The next time you go online, Quicken will try to complete this session. If this problem continues, contact Quicken Technical Support (OL-12).

Last Friday, our company had a total Internet outage due to what I heard was a problem with part of an MCI backbone that our company uses. Now, the problem actually started showing up on Thursday as we were getting random firewall access errors. Netscape or IE would indicate that the host was contacted but you'd never get a reply. Hit Refresh in your browser a couple of times and then the web page would load. Friday, it just got totally out of hand and they shut down our Internet connection while they fixed the problem.

What makes me mention this is that a good engineer uses any and all information in trying to find a solution to a problem. There are some people with their butts on the line for this. Probably some pulling all-nighters to try to fix it. Being that we're both in Atlanta, maybe there's a connection. Then again, maybe not, but good luck in getting to the bottom of it.
