Mad2,

She said quarterly pro forma operating losses later this year likely would be at least 2.5 times the $30.6 million level reported in the first quarter.

When I see statements like that, I always ask myself, "Self, just whose money are they spending here anyway?", and that snaps me back into the realization as to why I have no money in the internuts...

Mad2,

The AMZN spin doctors are putting up quite a magic show indeed. Like AOL, they might get away with this one, too.

An escape route for AMZN might be to acquire a brick & mortar business while the New Currency (AMZN stocks) still have value, then cover up the losses within the combined earnings of both. AMZN can partner with a huge retailer (WalMart?) and portals like YHOO (with BCST) can partner with Mass Media like CBS, to become the New Interactive Television.

Of course, WalMart, CBS, and the like might want the Internet pies for themselves instead. Barnes & Noble is one such example. However, the New Currency might just be the ticket to coerce them into mergers. In any case, the "Internuts" are running out of excuses and time.

The tragedy of all this is that when the Tulip implodes, many companies will not make it...

If you want read some stupid remarks read this:

fool.com

Go towards bottom and you will find totally crazy statements like this and more:

The Web effectively removes the "random" side of shopping -- the randomness of physical location, both yours and the stores -- that exists offline. This is partially why 66% of Amazon's first quarter sales were repeat purchasers. Offline, I buy on impulse after wandering into Crown Books, or Borders, or Barnes & Noble depending on where I am in the city. Online, I go to Amazon.

Using the WWW.acses.com plow price search engine I recently bought three different textbooks at three different retailers. I am sure they made little or no money and the sale. The prices were ridiculously low. There was abosolutely no overhead involved in buying from three different places that were just one click away.

I feel like writing to this guy and tell him he should be visit Kavorkian (sp?) in jail.
