Frank:

Watch that corn planting progress before going long beans.. Conflicting weather forecasts may lead to more corn planting delays. Reports are that if farmers can't get their corn in the ground by May 10th or so, we may see some shift to move some acerage to beans.. not good considering how big the soybean acerage estimates are now.

On the other hand, a friend of mine farms in N-Central Illinois and he says that the ground will be ready for fieldwork today or tomorrow and that farms in Central Illinois will definately be rolling planters today. With the 5 dry days ahead that are forecasted, I would guess that a good part of Illinois and Iowa will have their corn in the ground before the next rains are forecasted around Tuesday.

Look for a mixed market today.. 6-10 day wet forecast will provide support, but a look out of any midwestern window will show blue sky, providing some price resistance.

For now, I will keep my short Dec Corn position..Hopefully traders on the floor will be thinking as I am.

Good Luck Today,
Mike
