In a manner of speaking, yes. Rob is way off the mark with regard to the inference he makes in his original post. It is hard to explain the metamorphosis Intel went through during that time. It isn't talked about as much now I suppose because it was a long time ago, and even though a lot of employees remain from that period, Intel has grown tremendously since then.

If one were to take the time to analyze, I believe one could gain valuable insight into how Intel exiting the DRAM business has shaped the company that Intel is today. Intel failed to adequately respond to the competition. The last time I heard that about Intel was at the advent of the Value PC segment. I would argue it didn't take Intel long to figure it out, after initial stumbling.
