I agree that part of it is face saving, although I think better of maintaining NATO's prestige than you do. But war is conducted to achieve policy ends, not just prove that one is a man...In any event, it was discovered during World War Two that soldiers primarily fight for their buddies, not political goals. If we place men in danger, they will fight ferociously, so as not to let down their country or their units. Why do you think that nuke is so ferocious towards you? Not because of policy disagreement, but because our guys are over there, and he feels the visceral need to support them...

Lay off such insanity --please!! That's exactly the demonizing-the-Serbs lingo Milosevic wants us to gobble... Belgrade is no Waco, TX!! Serbs are human beings: don't picture them as some weird alien lemming-minded species! Nazis were also ready to die for the IIIrd Reich, Japs were ready to die as well, a la kamikaze!
