The fact is, none of the critics have been able to point to a viable alternative. PC133 SDRAM is only a stop-gap solution,

EDO, PC66, and PC100 were stop-gaps too and that didn't prevent them from selling a lot of units. My concern is that RMBS shareholders may have unrealistic expectations for the short term. Until those expectations are corrected RMBS is a risky purchase.

I won't comment on McKinley, but I will tell you that Intel is definitely moving towards integrating memory controllers into the processor.

When/if Intel puts Rambus controllers directly on the CPU, it's a completely different ballgame. From a technical point of view it gets rid of the front side bus bottleneck and reduces latency. From a market point of view it means that Rambus will be the ONLY PC main memory option. From a stock point of view, RMBS will go up 300% overnight. Please let me know a day ahead of the announcement. <g>

Tenchsatu,

Thanks. One of the best explanations I've seen for the case for RMBS in laymen's terms, yet. I hope everyone got a chance to read it.
