ETPI's Vision Quest Entertains U.S. Troops Supporting NATO Efforts in Kosovo
- R&B Rose Royce Brings 'A Little Bit of Home' to Troops Overseas - - New Contract With the Armed Forces Professional Entertainment Office Expands ETPI'S Military Entertainment Business -
HOUSTON, April 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Entertainment Technologies & Programs, Inc. (ETP; OTC Bulletin Board: ETPI) reports that its Vision Quest Productions subsidiary will produce a major concert tour for U.S. troops supporting NATO's fight against Serbian aggression in Kosovo.
Beginning April 29th, the 12-day tour features the grammy-award winning R&B group, Rose Royce (See "About Rose Royce," below). The tour will cover five countries and six locations, bringing "a little bit of home" to U.S./NATO Army, Navy and Air Force personnel stationed overseas.
Vision Quest efforts are sponsored by the Armed Forces Professional Entertainment Office (AFPEO) of Arlington, VA, which provides live American entertainment to U.S. military forces stationed on remote and isolated sites, or on ships at sea. The AFPEO's purpose is to lift spirits and morale, which helps maintain readiness and effectiveness of those serving in defense of our country.
The AFPEO, which operates under the auspices of the Department of Defense, organizes and sponsors more than 120 music, comedy and celebrity tours annually. It works closely with the USO, ABC Entertainment, Refugee International, and others.
"We are excited and fortunate to finally work with the AFPEO in providing this important service to our country," said Jeff Thorton, president of Vision Quest. "While we have and continue to produce an extensive schedule of concerts for individual military bases worldwide, this latest event establishes a new relationship between AFPEO and Vision Quest that we hope to build upon."
Thorton says that this arrangement also adds to ETP's role of providing nightclub entertainment to the U.S. military for more than 20 years, and more recently, under a five-year contract between ETP's NiteLife subsidiary and the military's AFNAF Purchasing Office in San Antonio, Texas.
"We selected ETP based on high recommendations and a long history of quality service," said Lieutenant Andrew J. Shough of AFPEO, "We look forward to a successful tour with Rose Royce and future activities with Vision Quest." AFPEO has experience a significant increase in activity and budget allowances over the last few years as the U.S. has endeavored to improve the quality of life for the sailors, soldiers, and air men serving the county.
"Despite the consolidation of U.S. military bases, we see this opportunity for ETP to expand dramatically over the years to come," said Doug Butcher, ETP's president and founder. "We believe that the leaders of our Armed Forces have recognized that not only does quality entertainment for our troops improve morale and effectiveness in the field, more enjoyable military lifestyles help attract and retain valuable personnel."
