Tom, I agree with you that this is
very premature & I was not implying by any stretch of the imagination that this is a "done deal" or even feasible. I was just responding to the "hypothetical" of how this would occur IF AOL were to acquire XNET, and I suspect that AOL would want to acquire more than 1 ISP if it could happen at all. Remember also that It was my understanding that ISP licenses are currently restricted... see Shearson's original post, limited to 31, so AOL might not have that easy a time getting a license, especially being an "outsider".

Barrier to Entry
The MPT controls all licensing and pricing. There is no indication
of any rule changes so the barrier to obtain an Internet license is
still substantial. Therefore time is of the essence for Xin Hai to
build a large subscriber base before any changes can occur.
XNET now stands poised for rapid growth over the coming months.
Start your due diligence early, because the potential here is
tremendous."
and ..."Xin Hai started business in 1993 and successfully applied for one of the 31 ISP licenses last year."

I still think the more likely candidate for a takeover would be PCNTF, who already has a presence in the Asian market & have already announced their intention to expand to new markets thru acquisition.
At any rate, if I falsely implied that AOL is very likely to take over XNET, I apologize, but I still think this is in the realm of possibilities for the reasons stated above.

Disclosure; you already know I have a stake in XNET
