The Gold Cup is a bi-annual event, attracting a crowd of 50,000, where equestrians of every discipline from all over the Mid-Atlantic come to enjoy a day at the races. The steeplechase is held at Great Meadows, in Northern Virginia's scenic stretch of lush, green rolling hills. There are seven steeplechase races carded, commencing at 1:00 p.m. and ending at approximately 5:00 p.m. Pre-race activities will feature pony races and Jack Russell Terrier Races, and extend to pony rides, contests, networking, and plain old socializing.
